IN-HOME ABA SERVICES

Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) In-Home service division specializes in treatment for children aged 3 to 5 who are transitioning from an Early Intervention program or have recently received an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis.

All clinical team members in this division are certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. All direct service providers are Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT's).

What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of learning and human behavior. By using evidence-based strategies, BCBA's (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) assess the specific ways your child learns, and the environmental and developmental factors that combine to contribute to his or her learning history. ABA operates upon the theory that behavior is also part of that learning history. Maladaptive or non-functional behaviors can be replaced by the repetitive teaching and acquisition of new skill sets and behaviors.

How Will ABA Therapy Help My Child?

Our Mass behavioral health clinic utilizes individualized ABA programs that are created to support your child's unique needs. BCBA's will come to your home to assess your child through a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and a skill assessment, as well as interview you about your child's needs, and the goals that your family would like to achieve. Information will be compiled into a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).  Once these components have been completed, a service delivery authorization request will be made to your insurance company, and ABA services begin upon approval.

Why Should I Choose ABA Therapy for My Child?

ABA therapy is an evidence-based treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Significant research has documented that a significant amount of ABA therapy (20 – 25 hours/week) can improve child language, cognitive ability, adaptive behavior, and social skills.  ABA therapy has also been found effective for reducing the frequency and intensity of repetitive behaviors.  Other research has found that these improvements have lasted long after treatment has ended. Finally, our mental health agency has chosen to focus our in-home ABA program on children 3 – 5 years of age as evidence indicates that early intervention is related to the greatest skill improvement.

What Does ABA Therapy Look Like?

A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will work with your child both at home and in the community to meet goals identified in the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).  The RBTs work is supervised by a BCBA. In addition, ABA therapy will also include parent training with the goal of helping your child practice their skills outside of the therapy sessions.

Please call our in-home ABA coordinator and practice manager Marisa Pasterczyk at 413-534-7400. Marisa will take down your information and review the necessary documentation needed to move forward.

How Long is the Waitlist?

We at JLA deeply understand that parents are highly motivated to help their child access appropriate care as soon as possible. Our Massachusetts mental health center strives to keep our waitlists to a minimum. However, there may be times when referrals are beyond our staffing capacity. Families may be placed on our waitlist. If this happens, our staff will reach out as soon as there is availability.
